At Klario, we believe in the power of marketing to create freedom through growth. Our mission is to help organizations transform their challenges into opportunities. This isn’t just a business philosophy – it’s deeply personal, shaped by my own journey of building resilience and finding ways forward.
Understanding the ‘why’ behind a business creates deeper connections. Behind every company are real people whose experiences shape how they serve their clients. Here’s my story of building a foundation that made entrepreneurship possible.

Early Dreams and Thrifted Suits
I’ve always had that entrepreneurial spark. Picture 14-year-old me, decked out in a business suit from Goodwill, attending Avon meetings as their newest (and shortest) sales rep. I even won top new rep in our district! That same drive followed me to college, where I built websites and marketing plans for small businesses and nonprofits to help pay for school.
After that, life took its own path. Between a demanding career, community service, and family life, I found myself focused on just moving forward each day. Those early dreams of entrepreneurship weren’t gone – they were just waiting for the right moment.

When Life Hits the Reset Button
About seven years ago, everything changed. After a divorce and wiped out savings, I found myself starting at zero while caring for my disabled dad and raising my young son. Life had other plans too – in the midst of rebuilding, we faced housing uncertainty and significant personal losses.
Here’s the thing about rebuilding: it takes a village.
- My “squad” (fellow community leaders)
- An incredible group of mom friends
- Our city’s Financial Empowerment Center
They helped me navigate everything from rebuilding credit to finding our feet again. Through it all, I learned invaluable lessons about resilience, resourcefulness, and the power of community.
Finding Strength Through Challenge
The journey wasn’t linear. Personal losses, including both parents and my son’s father (very unexpectedly), shaped my understanding of resilience. Through years of caregiving and rebuilding, I learned that moving forward means taking one step at a time.
Living frugally helped me rebuild faster than I imagined. I became a spreadsheet fanatic, tracking finances monthly and learning to invest. We even turned garage sales into a game, logging our “rummage adventures” in a binder. (Finding exactly what you need at a garage sale? Ultimate dopamine rush!)
Small victories added up. After years of saving and investing, I was able to buy the house we were renting – no moving boxes required! Each step forward built confidence and clarity about what was possible.
Building Something That Matters
Then came the plot twist: my first-ever job loss. But what initially felt like a setback became an opportunity. When businesses started asking for marketing help, I realized: I finally had enough stability to bet on myself.
Klario grew from there, with support from WWBIC, SBDC, and BizStarts Racine. Today, I channel both professional expertise and hard-won wisdom into projects that matter – from public health initiatives to AI education for small business owners. I speak at events, sharing knowledge about using AI and technology as tools for efficiency and growth, especially for entrepreneurs who face extra barriers.
“Marketing That Moves You Forward” isn’t just our tagline – it’s a promise built from personal experience.
Our tagline, “Marketing That Moves You Forward,” isn’t just clever wordplay. “Forward” was my word of the year during one of life’s biggest transitions (and yes, it’s Wisconsin’s motto too). But it’s the “you” that matters most – because business is always H2H, human-to-human. We create success for our businesses AND for each other.
Creating Paths Forward
This isn’t just my story – it’s about creating paths for others. Whether you’re:
- Just starting out
- Hitting your own reset button
- Ready to take that leap you’ve been dreaming about
Remember: resources exist, community matters, and persistence pays off.
“Sometimes the longest detours lead to exactly where you need to be.”
